  • TFWP Tx 14th September 2017

    Well, our debut on Fylde Coast Radio went as well as could be expected, other than the less than great audio on the mic – I could blame the new (to me) desk and not knowing my way around the studio, etc., but that’s not an excuse I’ll put forward, I should have done better.

    Other than that it was an enjoyable show in the usual format.

    We had, effectively, two sets of ‘new’ listeners, those who know Fused but are new to FCR, and those who are regular FCR listeners who were new to Fused. Hopefully the twain shall meet.

    And on that note, the new chatroom, courtesy of Discord, worked well and several listeners of old got in touch who used TuneIn, so that aspect works well also.

    One other slight nause was that we had originally been told we had the 19.00-21.00 slot, which we had geared up for and punted hither and thither, but with nigh on 24 hours notice we found ourselves doing the 21.00-23.00 slot. Not an issue for us but if you got caught out with that I apologies profusely.

    Safe (I think) to say that for the foreseeable future we will be going out weekly at 21.00 (UK) on Thursdays, a date for your diary – hopefully you won’t have recourse to use an eraser to change it again.

    To reiterate, you can listen via the player on the Fylde Coast Radio site, via the FCR apps (available via the FCR home page), or through several other platforms not least TuneIn – which is a cross platform/device radio app.

    The Fused chatroom can be accessed via this link, and is ‘open’ 24/7 if you want to leave any messages.

    Feel free to fire off any requests for our ‘Sound of the Cloud‘ segment, or suggestions for the ‘Three-of-a-Kind/Ménage à Trois‘ section which is a string of three tracks that are connected in some, shape or form. Ostensibly, as long as all tracks fit our genre remit we’ll get round to playing them.

    Likewise, any artists and/or producers, labels, etc., local or global, putting out material that equally fits our genre preferences can get in touch with your latest (or archival) tracks/EPs/LPs for inclusion.

    This show was the Final Fused on Globegig Radio. We’d had a five week run of Friday night outings, as opposed to the usual fortnightly rotation with §Wired§ – as Mr Keith had taken a few weeks out over the summer to do family stuff during the school holidays. So we had the final five weeks on Globegig to ourselves.

    Since being informed that Globegig would be closing its doors, after five years of putting out some great shows and music, we have been scouting round the locale (and beyond), seeking a new home for both Fused & Wired.

    In any event, before knowing what we later did, we had decided that both of us, myself & Keith, would co-host the Final Fused, bringing it back to the beginning when he sat in with me on my first show at Globegig (after I had sat in on his show the previous week). We kept to this format and continued to bill the show as the ‘Final Fused on Globegig Radio’, which it was.

    What our listeners (Wired & Fused) didn’t know was that we had secured a new patron, a new home for the shows, Fylde Coast Radio.

    We kept up the ruse throughout the show, albeit with hints of an ‘announcement’ which came with about half an hour to go.

    The show itself was a bit wonky. I’d had the idea to open up the Fused record box and have listeners pick a random number, which would equate to a track, and we’d play it, but alas the logistics were too off-world for it to work effectively – in hindsight, I perhaps should have limited the number of available genres/tracks. C’est la vie.

    However, having started with the usual ‘valve warming’ session, and moved onto the random tracks shtick, plan B was implemented. (I had decided to have a plan B only that afternoon, so there was little, if any, prep. Consequently, the selection did leave a little to be desired. But, we cracked on like true professionals. 😉

    One fly-in-the-ointment was not being used to having two live mics in the studio and forgetting to open them both, unlike a true professional. One instance particularly where Keith comes across as a disembodied voice in the back-ground, sorry Keith. 😮

  • Fused to move to Fylde Coast Radio

    From Thursday 14th September ‘The Fused Wireless Programme’ will be coming to you from ‘Fylde Coast Radio’ continuing our fortnightly rotation thereafter.

    Not only have we moved station, and day, but we will be going out at the earlier time of 19.00 UK time, for the customary two hours.

    You can listen to Fylde Coast Radio – a community radio station – via their site (link below – new site going live anon, ETA 10th September), or by using their apps, links on home page. Alternatively via the cross platform (Mac / PC / Linux / iOS / Android) app and site ‘TuneIn’.

    As yet there is no studio webcam – something we’re investigating – but there will be a chatroom. We’ve set that up through another cross platform app, ‘Discord’. Follow the invite link below to become a user and secure your access ahead of time.

    Other than that, there is no change to Fused, all the usual blether and BS amid some great music from across the usual genre range and eras.

    So, thank you Globegig Radio for last 18 months, and thank you Fylde Coast Radio for opening your doors to The Fused Wireless Programme.
